The WealthCare Saver investment solution is an investment platform that provides a modern investment experience for HSA participants, offering features and functionality new to HSAs. The WealthCare Saver investment solution includes three different investment options - Managed, Self-Directed and Brokerage giving you the ability to tailor your investment journey to fit your individual needs and experience level. Best of all, you will be able to manage all aspects of your HSA within a single portal.

Yes. You will need to meet your defined minimum threshold before you can begin investing your HSA funds. Please see your HSA account summary page to determine your minimum threshold to invest.

Getting started is simple. Once you have enough money in your HSA account to invest, simply click the "start investing" button on the investments page. You will have to agree to the custodial disclosures and then you can select from the available investment account types.

Designed for novice investors who prefer to have our advisor tool automatically select and rebalance investments on an ongoing basis in accordance with their age and/or risk profile. This account type delivers a “do it for me” approach to investing.

Designed for intermediate investors who have the desire to self-select from a menu of monitored investment options covering multiple asset classes to diversify their portfolio, and then rebalance their portfolio manually. This account type provides a balance between do it for me and DIY approaches to investing.

Designed for adept investors who desire to perform advanced research and trading across hundreds of individual stocks and ETFs. This account type offers a hands-on, DIY approach to investing.

The default fund lineup is a list of ETFs, chosen by our Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) spanning multiple asset classes.

These assets highlight the benefits of investing your HSA funds, offer insights into investment best practices, and provide a high-level overview of your investment options. Using these tools and resources, it will be up to you to decide which investment path is right for you.

From within your HSA portal, expand the menu located in the top left corner and click Investments, or navigate to your HSA account summary and click on the Investment button.

Each ETF in all of the account types contains a link to the prospectus, which can be accessed by clicking the resources link on the instrument's detail page.

No. Investment instruments are not FDIC insured.

You must first open an investment account. In the Managed and Self-Directed account types, you will be prompted to choose how much money you'd like to initially fund your HSA investment account with. This will be your first transfer. Once your account is opened, you can transfer funds from your HSA cash account to your HSA investment account using the "Move Money" menu item. In the Brokerage account type, you will transfer money to your HSA investment account from your HSA cash account by purchasing shares of investment instruments.

Managed or Self-Directed account: If you’re transferring money from your HSA cash account into your HSA investment account, the money will transfer in real time and will automatically be used to buy funds according to your portfolio allocations.

Brokerage account: Unlike Managed and Self-Directed, there is no true “transfer” of funds in a Brokerage account. If you want to move money from your HSA cash account to your HSA investment account, you will need to buy investment instrument(s). The money movement for buys happens in real time.

Yes. You can withdraw your HSA investment funds at any time to help pay for eligible medical expenses.

Managed or Self-Directed account: If you’re transferring money from your HSA investment account into your HSA cash account, sells will be executed according to your portfolio allocations and the money will settle into your HSA cash account within two business days.

Brokerage account: If you want to move money from your HSA investment account to your HSA cash account, you will need to sell investment instrument(s).The money from sells settles into your HSA cash account within two business days.

Your HSA investments balance will update in real time throughout the day, during market hours.

You can make changes to your investment account at any time, including outside of market hours. Trades submitted outside of market hours will be put in a pending status and will be automatically executed at the next market open.

If you need to spend money on health related expenses and your balance drops below the minimum amount to invest, you will not be able to add more funds to your investment account until you have accrued enough money in your HSA to surpass the threshold again.

Within your WealthCare Saver investment account, you can use the "Documents" menu item to access your HSA investment account statements.

Rebalancing is the process of periodically buying and selling assets in your portfolio to maintain your desired level of risk and asset allocation. Over time, the prices of investments fluctuate, and portfolios naturally deviate from your planned allocation. Portfolio rebalancing allows you to sell assets that have grown beyond the initial intended allocation and purchase others that have underperformed. Maintaining a consistent allocation can help keep you on track to reaching your health savings goals.

There is no limit to the number of transactions you can make in a single day, as long as the money you are transacting with is available to be invested. Once you make a purchase, (example- buys shares of a specific stock) the money will immediately be used to purchase the stock and cannot be reinvested until the money settles to the investment account (two business days later). Any investable dollars that are not tied up in a previously bought stock or ETF can be invested with no restriction on the number of purchases within a single day.

No. The Investment portfolio dollars will not be used to cover a debit card swipe.

The balance in your HSA Investment Account is subject to investment risks, including fluctuations in value and the possible loss of the principal amount invested. Investing through the WealthCare Saver investment platform is subject to the terms and conditions of the Health Savings Account Custodial Agreement and any applicable investment supplement(s).
